Q: In order to prevent water from being wasted in Punjab, the government had also prepared a water act to give licenses on the use of water to domestic consumers and farmers.

In order to prevent the depletion of underground reservoirs across the province, including Lahore, the Punjab government has formulated a new strategy, for which a law is being enacted that will also apply to domestic consumers. Citizens and farmers will obtain authority licenses before installation of motor pumps and tube wells. According to the Water Act Draft, citizens will have to obtain a license before installing a new pump to obtain water. If a citizen uses a motor or tube well without obtaining a license, the connection will be disconnected.

According to the proposed bill, any citizen will be obliged to obtain a license to install a motor to obtain water in the house. The proposal to ban tube wells without license for farmers across Punjab was also included in the Act.
